Springtime can be especially exciting for many families that enjoy warm weather outdoor activities. As communities reopen recreational areas it’s a good time to think about replenishing, updating, or introducing a First Aid Kit to your list of things to bring on adventures. Travel first aid kits should resemble the kits you have at home with consideration for what activities you will be enjoying. Here are a few things you may want to consider in terms of keeping a First Aid Kit around:
- If you have a first aid kit, check the expirations of items that may need to be disposed of and then replaced like antibiotic ointments, sun-screens, or burn crèmes.
- Sterile gloves are a great item that many people forget to include.
- Assorted bandages with cleaning solutions for cuts and scrapes
- Eye wash solutions for flushing debris from eye areas safely
- Duct tape, plastic sheets or new trash bags for wrapping large areas with wounds to keep them dry after bandaging and treating.
- Keep in mind commonly used medications like mild pain and fever relievers, aspirin, as well as epi pens and antihistamines.
