Stress is a part of life, but during the COVID-19 outbreak, stress can be more overwhelming than usual. While it’s easier to identify ways of keeping our bodies healthy and avoiding the outbreak by self-isolating, it can be challenging to do so while also taking care of mental health. The CDC has a few helpful tips on coping with the mental health difficulties associated with COVID-19 that we would like to help share with our community!
- Be aware of your personal risk factors like over-stimulation, falling into unhealthy habits, and a lack of keeping to a schedule
- Avoid over-exposure to negative stress like media coverage of the outbreak
- Connect with others appropriately through technology
- Create a list of self-care activities like endorphin producing exercise, calming arts and crafts, and/or other hobbies that counter the stress you feel
If you’re feeling down, there is nothing wrong with asking for help from valuable available resources. Check out the link at the bottom of this post for more from the CDC.
