This week we will be recognizing Dr. Joshua Neal, one of our Charleston team providers!
Dr. Neal decided that he wanted to become a doctor after a very intense ROTC event where he did bayonet training in college. After having to yell while making an aggressive stabbing motion, he realized that he never wanted to bayonet anyone in his life. He became much more interested in healing than bayoneting and started his course towards becoming a doctor.
He graduated with his Medical Degree in 2011 from Albany Medical College. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and completed a residency in family medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Dr. Neal deployed to Egypt where he was the officer-in-charge of a busy multinational medical clinic. He then completed an additional 3 years at an Army medical clinic in Germany where he worked as a staff physician and chief of executive medicine. He has completed additional training in advance trauma, combat casualty care, and tropical infectious disease.
He spends most of his spare time with his dog or traveling. After spending three years in Germany and traveling around Europe, he is so happy to be back in Charleston with his family. On his off days you will find him riding his scooter to his sister’s café and drinking an afternoon espresso
